Hello dragonbonded!
We have been working hard these days to bring you new surprises for these campaign. We are very happy with your support and would like nothing other than to give you the best experience.
There has been a rising concern among people in the team about some of the dragons being delivered at winter (December for the northern hemisphere and June for the southern hemisphere) and we have tried to figure out the best way to keep your dragons protected over the long trip some of them will take to the hands of you, our backers.
This is why we are offering a special add-on for our dragons: The Dragon Vogue™ hand-knit beanies and scarves that will ensure your dragon travels comfortably and doesn't catch a cold on the way to your home.
Not only that, but each of the beanies will be designed to best fit the style of each dragon, making them not only a much needed cold protection, but also a fashionable accessory.
Hopefully you will be as excited as us with this new add-ons and as always, we are ready to hear your feedback and ideas. Who knows, maybe we could work a way to make unique outfits for each of the dragons to highlight their personality and style.
Happy April 1st!

Leaving festivities aside, we received an update from Tom today and we will have Rawraxxa's head design by tomorrow. We will host a livestream with him on Friday morning where he will design a dragon for you while we chat about it. We will let you know about the exact time later in the week.

Kuxcoatl

Kuxcoatl
The Lord of the Feathered Dragons has a very particular background. His bedazzling being is proof of the will in Kadmos' blood. Kuxcoatl shows that to dragons, to be is to become.
Background
Long time ago, Kuxcoatl hatched as a dragonkin among the brood of the Coatls. He was known as Kuxbaan, and lived under the shade of the great feathered wyrms. In the beginning, the Coatls were tribal and feral, formed by brutal devourers and hostile warriors who took pride in the violent ways of their kin.
The dragonkin were not treated very different than those destined to feed the Coatls’ hunger. Yet Kuxbaan, with remarkable wit and intelligence, managed to please his boastful masters, enough for him to stay alive.
Naturally curious, he always found himself cautiously observing his masters’ behavior, not afraid but with interest to form an objective judgement of what he saw day by day. Oft times, he would stray away from Coatl territory to explore unknown lands and species. Kuxbaan took samples to study them whenever he had time, and this was nothing his superiors cared for or even noticed. However, he always proceeded quietly and attempted to go by unnoticed. He did not wish to displease his master, a young Coatl who was expected to become a strong leader of his clan.
Kuxbaan’s curiosity and desire for knowledge continued increasing, and his heart longed for adventure; his mind painting landscapes beyond the galactic infinity, roused by the wondrous night sky that he often observed from the Red moon.
Every 13 years a portal opens and Dragons travel to Dralore, a planet too different to theirs where they bring absolute calamity and desolation as they search for a valuable offering to bring back to the head of their respective brood. This is considered a rite of passage, and Kuxbaan’s master was to perform it.
Kuxbaan was not going to sit idle while limiting himself to dream, so he furtively clung to his unaware lord’s tail, hiding under his plumes. This behavior he had observed in parasite species that latched onto bigger animals and that was Kuxbaan’s time to imitate it.
Dralore was successfully reached and Kuxbaan, filled with awe, did not lose time to delve into the wonders of that new world. There, lingering undercover, he came across the people who in Dralore are known as the Nahuac.
He observed how the Nahuac, at a very early stage, were trying to channel their magic, primarily into manipulating nature, but they lacked full knowledge of the essential principle that conferred them magic power.
When the time to go back to the Red Moon came, Kuxbaan left Dralore, but he had more questions than those he had before arriving. This lead him enter in a state of deep meditation and study when he returned to Drakha. He commenced developing and exercising his dragonkin magic, wishing to manipulate nature like the Nahuac, but with a deeper understanding and wishing to modify his own self. In theory this was fully possible, for the blood of Kadmos, the first dragon, ran through his veins.
He challenged his mind and his body, and after a while a transformation begun. The blood of Kadmos had awakened within him, and soon his anatomy commenced changing into that of a majestic and gigantic dragon. Kuxbaan had finally become a Coatl, defying the laws of nature and of his own kin.
When he appeared before the eyes of his master and claimed to be Kuxbaan, the later was ready to take him on with fury. Kuxbaan did not retreat and fought not only with strength, but also cunning and sly, finally outwitting the leader and executing him.
Kuxbaan was recognized as the new leader and he named himself Kuxcoatl, Lord of the feathered dragons, leaving his dragonkin name behind.
The Coatls changed as a kin, following the steps of their new master. They remained strong and territorial, but the desire for knowledge and curiosity became their most notable characteristic.
Personality
- Kuxcoatl appears collected and meditative, and whenever he speaks, his mouth spews words of pure wisdom. Knowledge is his ore; he hoards it, yet not greedily, for he often shares it when he considers it worthy and pertinent.
- Many millennia ago, he made a trip to Dralore where he showed the Nahuac some of his magic, which they now know as the Makaab and is a pinnacle of this discipline to their society.
- To fight Kuxcoatl is to prepare for a test not only of strength but of wit and intelligence, since these are two of the most notable characteristics of a Coatl’s combat.
- In Kuxcoatl’s domain, the Coatls have a similar philosophy to Aureus’ when it comes to the treatment of dragonkin and some of their servants, which are usually Nahuac abducted from Dralore. Except for those who remain in the Coatls’ food farms waiting for their turn to satiate the dragons’ appetite, inhabitants of the brood’s territory are given certain freedom. This is reasonable to Kuxcoatl due to his past.
- A good way to please the Lord of the feathered dragons is to present him with something unknown to him; something that confers him knowledge in any sense.

Aureus Fulgen

Aureus Fulgen, His Radiant Majesty
Aureus, His Radiant majesty, is the helm of the Fulgen brood. He is an ancient wyrm, following Baastherox in age. Aureus has seen great battles of yore, and he has taken part in many of the most important events and conflicts that have shaped the Red Moon’s history. His role in draconic society is crucial, for his brood is currently the dominant one. Feared as he is respected.
Background
During the early days of Drakha, the first wyrms all had a similar aspect, but as their world started changing a strange phenomenon started to occur. The hatchlings of their eggs resulted in dragons with unique and very different characteristics to their progeny. Some of them were feathered, or had scales with strange colours and qualities no one had ever seen, and some others possessed the ability to conjure rare and unknown magic. In the beginning, this was seen as an aberration, and many even decided to kill or eat the little beasts, but as time ran its course they came to be accepted.
Aureus Fulgen himself was among the first and incredibly rare variants of wyrms to exist. His metallic scales were so beautiful and shun so brightly, it appeared he had been bestowed with an armour of pure gold. Many saw him as a strange relic and oft praised his unique aspect. Nevertheless, this awoke an anxiety in him, for he desired not to please others, but to be pleased. This woke in him the desire to transcend expectations, and perpetuate his majesty out his own will. So it came to pass that Aureus gave himself the task to rise and become founder of his own kin, the Fulgen brood, which he knew would be the most glorious of all.
Centuries later, Aureus continued to rise in glory, but the separation of the Great Wyrms into different broods had stirred conflict, for drakes are rightfully arrogant and self-important creatures and it was intrinsic for them to wish to state their superiority above aught else. War came in the form of a great kinslaying, and Aureus and his brood were some of the most remarkable contenders.
Many broods went fully extinct during these wars, but the Fulgen endured. Aureus, looked upon the crimson-tainted battlefield, and saw not victory but loss and a baleful wasteland. He saw marred bodies and faces, and knew that great power had ceased to exist after that last battle, power which he could have manipulated to use in his favour.
Certainly not grieving, but deep in thought, Aureus came to conclude existence could not be futile, every creature born or hatched had to have a purpose. It was of little or vast importance, it mattered not to him; this purpose he would use to grow in strength and power to become insuperable. Hence, not sitting idle, he commenced exercising apparent diplomacy, which was in truth elaborate manipulations for his future plans of greatness.
Aureus started working on gaining allies instead of foes to benefit from those characteristics that made them different and strange to the Fulgen. His followers became so vast in numbers that he extended the territory of his lair to build Aurelya, the city of Fulgen, where he keeps his kin and all of those in his service close to please his ambitions.
Personality
Aureus is characterized for his imposing presence and character. He is a natural born leader and he shines with the majesty of the sun wherever he decides to make an appearance. He, unlike other dragons, appears to have a much more lenient and even understanding attitude towards those in his service. However, his intelligence manifests in his manipulations to use whatever resources he has to his benefit. A not so severe regime over his underlings makes these live longer and work better. This rhetoric is the foundation of his brood’s striking strength and dominance. Those under his command not only fear him but also respect him, everlastingly willing to stand for the Fulgen. Aureus is capable of captivating and charming anybody who stands before him, imbuing in any individual’s a powerful sense of duty and servitude towards him, their one and only lord.

There is more to be told regarding Aureus and his brood but for now this shall suffice. You can join to Draco Studios forums to discuss or elaborate your impressions and ideas introducing Aureus Fulgen into your tabletop gaming sessions. Go to Aureus Fulgen thread or comment here on Kickstarter.

Two more stretch goals! Dragon Lairs for everyone
over 5 years ago
– Sun, Mar 31, 2019 at 07:24:46 PM
Hi Dragonbonded!
We have unlocked a couple more stretch goals
First up is Rawraxxa's bust, it will be available as a resin add-on for $25 or included in the $15 add-on for busts STLs.
Next up!
The dragon Lairs will be designed to work with the epic encounters and also account for the dragons' massive size! Most battlemaps are not fit for such big wyrms, the lairs will be unique for every dragon some of them might even become multi-level depending on what we decide works best for the artwork and description of every lair. We will provide the file in three formats, low size for VTT, and then a high quality 300dpi grid and no grid versions, for people who like to adjust their maps!
The Lairs will be an amazing addition to the already awesome PDF, you will hace a pretty hefty handbook to guide you through the Red Moon and give you a lot of content to use these awesome beasts! Remember the PDF is included in pledges at the dice level or above.
Tom is working hard on the next dragon portrait which should be out soon!
Today we hosted the first livestream from a series of livestreams we will be doing with different members from the team behind Dragons of the Red Moon. We talked about the campaign, some frequently asked questions and the projects of Draco Studios. In case you missed you can watch it here.
Stay tuned for the future livestreams so you can join us in face to face communication and share the love for dragons.
