Dragonbond
over 5 years ago – Thu, Mar 28, 2019 at 07:34:52 AM

Dragons of The Red Moon is part of an extended universe called Dragonbond. In this universe, there is a constant tension between Drakha (The Red Moon) and the planet of Dralore, where different races inhabit and actively attempt to defend themselves from the constant threat that the Dragons of the Red Moon represent to them. Every 13 years, when Drakha orbits in a very close proximity to Dralore, a portal is opened and it permits the dragons to make a journey to this planet. The Dragons, most of them young, endeavor to complete a rite of passage to bring something valuable to the great wyrm of their brood, in hopes to prove their worth and show their qualities. Some of these majestic creatures, not only bringing utter devastation to the regions they overfly, choose to take back to Drakha unfortunate souls who fall under their claws to breed in their food farms, animal specimens, artifacts that intrigue them or they consider valuable under their judgement, among others.

One of the many landscapes that can be seen in the Red Moon

Undoubtedly, Dralorians have had a valid reason to fear and repudiate dragons for centuries. However, during the time of the draconic attacks every 13 years, a most peculiar event oft times take place. This is called the Dragonbond and it continues to puzzle and astonish both dragons and the people of Dralore. As its name propounds, this is the bonding or coming together of a dragon and any Dralorian specie with the faculty of intellect. Up to this day, there is no logic explanation for this, bond, for it is only known that it is instant and once the two creatures have recognized each other, their life depends on the other’s and vice versa. The dragon immediately loses its immortality, and is scarred by the spear of finitude, which will rise disquietude in their hearts and trouble their mind with matters that they have never been concerned with. The humanity a dragon gains due to the bond, may be seen as a curse or an advantage depending on the perspective from where it is approached. On the other hand, the Dralorian who has melded will acquire a great amount of power from the dragon and the dragon will as well gain power and magic from its counterpart.

There is a lot to say about the Dragonbond, and its nature is not written in here, but in the stories of those who have experienced in the flesh. These accounts may soon be yours to read and let your imagination travel through the wondrous Dralore. This place where existence is bereft of the belief in Gods and destiny, to be is to become. There are no idols in the Dralorian mind beyond that which they call Khrasafq, a demiurgic entity who is not worshipped as an individual, for it exists in the multiplicity of the universe. Krashafq resides in all that is, hence all that is, is Khrashafq, occurring as the constant transformation of an instant in diverse shapes. Before the lack of a dive eye of judgement, Dralorians concern themselves not with the prospect of afterlife or eternal damnation, but with their present, and they do not expect to be punished or rewarded by a greater power. Their fears and drives are propped upon other matters.

War and conflict are primary themes in Dralorian reality, and the inhabitants of this planet cannot conceive life without the bellicose past that was given a shape to their pugnacious actuality and thinking. The social and political horizon is everlastingly overwhelmed by the prospect of quarrels and dispute. Yet, unlike us, Dralorians do not long for peace, nor linger in the melancholy of a better time. On the contrary, their will-power is ignited by the primeval idea that collision is an intrinsic and immanent principle of life which gives a value to episodes of stability. Most definitely, their morality is unlike that of our world, and it operates in curious and of times surprising ways.

This partly explains the wide cultural variety of Dralorian factions and their notable strength and impetus, which come in many shapes and have many different faces and voices. Which of the following appeals to your will and determination the most? It could be the Tyverian Empire, residence of blood sorcerers with unfaltering will and a determination to conquer as much territory as possible through blood pacts and imposing authority; or maybe The High Kingdom of Allaria, a place with the enticing aesthetics of the far east where the past magic of the silver elves continues to perturb the new order the half-elven have established; industrious gold gnomes leading the faction’s industrialization. The Nahuac could appeal to you, shapeshifters in commune with nature who fiercely protect their borders. The combined forces of the Ocelokatl, fearful  jaguar shapeshifters; the talented Boonkun birdfolk, and the resilient Bendavee lizardfolk makes the Nahuac a faction to be reckoned with. These three factions are just half of the most dominant ones this awe inspiring universe has to offer to you.

A Nahuac city landscape. The Nahuac focus on melding with nature this can be seen in their traditions and constructions.
A Nahuac city landscape. The Nahuac focus on melding with nature this can be seen in their traditions and constructions.

However, these factions are not complete without the political intrigue and the antagonizing forces that add up to the constant menace from the Red Moon. Danger and formidable forces fuel their leaders’ will. One of the most notable is The Null, a dark power which leaks into Dralorian reality, and fails not to terrorize and make the bravest mages and warriors hesitate to cast a spell or wield a weapon. The Null spews horrors capable of absorbing any form of being and turning it into nothingness, which makes it an appalling opponent, yet some see it as an inviting ally. Dralore is full of occult powers and entities that stalk from the abysmal deep to the icy and impious mountains of the north.

Where will you stand? This will be a decision for you to make once you dare venture in and explore more about this marvellous universe Draco Studious has crafted for your enjoyment.

Another Two stretch goals, and a new dragon!
over 5 years ago – Tue, Mar 26, 2019 at 10:42:28 PM

Hello Dragonbonded!

We have managed to unlock two new stretch goals!

Breath weapons unique for every dragon sculpt that also represent their environment and their strengths. This pieces will be cast in translucent resin, this will give you the opportunity to paint them with washes and glazes and achieve a cool look with the part still being semi-translucent and looking more realistic.

We are still working on breath weapon pricing depending on the estimated size, but prices will be up tonight in the add-on section.

Rawraxxa, The Perfect Hunter, is a female dragon that lives in the desolate deserts of the Red Moon, she prices the Hunt as the prefect moment, in her mind praise can only be given to those that hunt best. Anyone (dragon or not) can become prey if they are not worthy of the hunt.

A pragmatic and ferocious dragon. Tom is currently working on her head design, this part of the design is always lengthy as it must transfer the personality of the dragon and create a unique style. We will show you the design as soon as it is done.

A taste of the universe

In the last update we gave you an idea of the complex universe we are creating. In the following Lore updates we will focus on the dragons that are in this campaign and share a small bio of their personalities and their story.  After we are done with all dragons we will share a bit more focus on the factions of Dralore.

Remember to share the campaign with other fellow dragon enthusiasts and gamers! We still have more amazing things to explore and dragons to discover.

Enjoy the Flight!

Two new Stretch Goals! The next dragon is on the horizon
over 5 years ago – Mon, Mar 25, 2019 at 09:20:46 PM

Hello dragonlords!

The campaign is already soaring in great heights, and we know it will fly ever higher. In the last couple days, we unlocked two new stretch goals! There will be a Lore update on the universe tonight.

Dragon Lairs

The dragon lairs will be portrayed in incredible pictures you will be able to behold the beauty (or what every dragon perceives as beauty) in their own lairs and cities. Every dragon has a unique style that matches his personality, we will delve more into Lairs as the dragon Bios arrive.

Lairs will be included in the ever-growing PDF that will hold all the lore and information that we are creating for these awesome dragons. Our hope is that you grow to  love the dragons in full, their design, the "miniatures" and, their personalities and battles.

 Printed Stat cards

A5 printed stat blocks for 5e and the 9th Age will be included with every dragon, with these you will be able to have them handy while you run your session or play your battle. Of course these are also included in your PDF freebie, but they are always good to have at your hand when you need them! We will also design the frames and layout for the stat blocks so they really shine and look really good!

The dragon rears and is ready to unleash...

Breath weapons will work similar to the Scenic Bases. They will be individual add-ons for every dragon that will vary in price depending on the breath weapons size and volume. The breath weapon will be compatible with your open jaw version (which is a freebie, so you are going to get one already!)

They will be cast in Translucent Resin, giving you the option to only paint it with glazes and washes and achieve a fantastic result.

For the STL backers, we are including the Breath Weapons pack (one for each unlocked dragon throughout the campaign) in the Dragon Bust add-on, we want to give more value to that bundle and make it bigger too! note that the breath weapons will only be compatible with the full-body dragons, but included in the $15 bust add-on pack, which also includes all of the unlocked bust models which will look great on any shelf.

Finally on the horizon...

Rawraxxa, The Insatiable Predator

For now, that will have to do, as we come near the next awesome dragon we will release more info on her.

Thanks to all the backers; dragon lovers uniting on this adventure.  over 550 dragonlords, and over the 50k mark. We invite you to spread the word to other draconic enthusiasts and share it on your social media to help us fly even higher! There is still much to show and a whole universe to discover.

Enjoy the Flight!

Baasterhox, the Mightiest
over 5 years ago – Sun, Mar 24, 2019 at 02:16:19 AM

I know many of you have been waiting to decide if you want the 5th dragon. Tom made this fantastic rendition of the mightiest, he truly looks like an entity of power and destruction, he is menacing and strong.

(we have updated the stretch goal artwork to reflect his head shot)

just wanted to do a short update so everyone could see this awesome dragon

Enjoy the Flight!

Split Shipping + More SG unlocked: scenic bases
over 5 years ago – Fri, Mar 22, 2019 at 09:11:09 PM

The dragon flies ever higher!

Scenic bases as add-ons for all the dragons, as the campaign progresses we will be delving deeper into the lore for each dragon, so far you have seen them, but they are deep complex beings, they all have stories and lore that make them truly unique. This will be represented in the scenic bases they will be unique to each dragon, and they will vary in size as the dragons do.

  • Aureus scenic base ($20) - 150 mm round
  • Sivax scenic base ($12) - 100 mm round
  • Kuxcoatl scenic base ($12) - 100 mm round
  • Nixis scenic base ($12) - 100 mm round

We are currently working on creating awesome and accurate art for each base and plan to have it before the campaign (or shortly after so you can add it in backerkit) ends so you can decide which bases you want to add to your pledge.

Whenever we unlock a new dragon we will post the pricing (and size) of his base with him and eventually include all the bases and prices in the add-on section before the end of the campaign.

Up next...

Epic encounters are something we have been working on for a while. These dragons are so unique that we wanted to develop them further than just a 5e compatible stat block. That is why we decided to make encounters specially made for each of these majestic creatures. The Epic encounters take you through a great fight, the dragon will become damaged throughout the fight and lose some of its power, but maybe it will also fight harder as it nears its defeat. Epic encounter I has encounters in pdf format for the first 3 dragons that were originally in the campaign (Aureus, Sivax, and Kuxcoatl), including stats, descriptions and some storytelling elements!

After that...

Tom is hard at work at the moment, bringing the next dragon to life, we will show him as soon as we have the image.

But for now you should just know that "the mightiest" is part of his name, so...

Split Shipping

First to sum it up, The sooner you pledge the sooner you will get your rewards.

We know many of you want your dragons sooner rather than later. we want to be able to keep our time tables and deliver to everyone, not just in time but in quality as well. Because of this we do not want to over-estimate our production line (this also means that we could deliver earlier if all goes according to plan). We are taking steps to make the dragons faster and better, but at the time what makes most sense logistically is to offer the option to have split shipping or single shipping for your rewards.

What does that mean?

We are going to use backerkit, when doing your checkout it will ask if you want to do single shipping or split shipping. If you have a "wave 1" pledge, or any wave with 4 or more dragons as a base pledge. You will be able to chose to get your rewards in two shipments. One will be the December shipment which will include your dragons chosen from (Aureus, Kuxcoatl or Sivax), then the next shipment will be Wave 2 in June 2020 which will include Nixis and any other dragons unlocked throughout the campaign and the dragon busts as well.

We would love to be able to send all the dragons together in the same shipment but this is done so that we can give you the choice to get them early on December or wait until June when we have all of this amazing dragons included the ones you are helping us unlock!

First 24 hours!

In day 1, after 24 hours we reached 200+ backers with ~$20k funding for these 200mm tall dragons!
