Hello Dragonbonded,

As we prepare the PDF pack for digital fulfillment later this month, we will be sharing with you more about the content you will find in the PDF pack.

In this update, you will learn more about the Great Wyrms' lairs and their broods.

Lairs illustrations

Baastherox Lair

Art by Odysseas Stamoglou

Inside an impossibly massive skull eroded by time and the unforgiving sands of the Northern Wastes lies Baastherox's lair. A perfect palace for solitude, peace and quiet, this place is devoid of all decorations. Within, holding little to no secrets, rests Baastherox, the mightiest of dragons, second only to Kadmos.

Aureus Fulgen Lair

Art by Odysseas Stamoglou

The Golden City is a paragon of draconic organization. Buildings made to draconic intentions and necessities, all of which serve a purpose to Fulgen's order. Law is paramount, and the key to understanding the dragon's might.

Sivax Magnifex Lair

Art by Anton Ninov

At the Red Moon's Mercury shores rises a Bismuth spire. Within, one can marvel at Sivax Magnifex's collection of all things aesthetic. Fountains of Mercury, crystal structures and perfect light formations dress the museum of draconic perfection. Doors hide secrets only to be beheld by the Prince of Perfect Ecstasy.

Nixis Lair

Art by Odysseas Stamoglou

Deep in the scar left by the greatest war in draconic history lies Nixis' great rebirth. Surrounded by bone and decomposition, decorated by her eggs and kept up and running by her undead dragons, the dracolich governs the limits between life and death.

Kuxcoatl Lair

Art by Anton Ninov

Over the lush, endless jungles of the Red Moon hovers Kuxcoatl's laboratory. A pyramid formed by rock and rune that holds the greatest secrets of reality. Magic showers from the pyramid's many experiments and fills the jungle with arcane beauty.

Dehrilya Lair

Art by Anton Ninov

The great volcanoes of the Red Moon must live in shame under Nurazhirme's shadow. Inside its raging crater, fueled by the fierce magma inside is the mightiest forge in the world. Walls of gold, pools of fire and dragonkin setters and casters form the ruckus of the Forge Queen's lair.

Rawraxxa Lair

Art by Anton Ninov

The sands of the Red Moon's greatest desert overflow its limits. The many rock formations and sand structures are a playground for the apex huntress. Rawraxxa has made a kingdom of her sandbox, and none other understand its complexity like she and her brood.

The Forge Queen is coming...

Here's a sneak peek for you dear backers:

Work in progress.

Nixis, the Dracolich

Our Art Director and Sculptor has finished the 3D model for Nixis. She will be uploaded on the upcoming week to your existing DriveThruRPG files.

We are updating the STL files on DriveThruRPG constantly so you can Opt-in and get all the notifications when we upload Nixis (or any other models) and the upcoming dragons.

So, as beautiful as she seems fragile, but truly a Dracolich every adventurer should be wary of:

Nixis, sculpted by Daniel Ehrli

This one will be quite a challenge for our team at Draco Forge to cast but we are sure they will achieve amazing results!

About Nixis' Lair

A festering scar divides the Red Moon. Once, long ago, the greatest war between dragons took place. Spawn of Kadmos gored each other in an unforgiving search for power. What was once a wide expanse of color and beauty soon became lathered with blood, death, and pain. Now this scar is home to Nixis, the Dracolich and her army of the undead. Here in the Cursed Valley, Nixis brings back those dragons who have seen their demise while her liches feast on the power of death that brought her back long ago.

Scattered about the floors, walls, and alcoves of the valley, Nixis has placed the eggs of defeated enemies. They are her phylacteries, and as long as they thrive, the Dracolich shall stand strong. Her spawn, those she has brought back from the endless dark, share this responsibility, for they all hold a small piece of Nixis. While the eggs hold a majority of her destructive lifelessness, her army of the undead holds a smaller, but just as important part.

Nixis' Lair

The dragons of the Red Moon tend to evade the Cursed Valley. Nixis’ existence is a constant reminder that they too can die. No matter how endless their lives may be, dragons can be felled and lost forever to the tides of reality. What remains far stranger and much more disgusting is to be brought back by the Dracolich. Nixis, however, remains tall. The dragons she has revived have understood her agenda and the power of death, and many of these undead dragons have become her strongest allies.

Roll a Game Expo (RAGE)

Last weekend we had the chance to be at Roll a Game Expo at Guadalajara, where we offered some RPG demos for Dragons of the Red Moon Kuxcoatl's Epic Encounter as well as Eldritch Century and our games War for Chicken Island and Dodos Riding Dinos. It is always great to meet some of our backers at these events!

We would like to share with you our Roll A Game Experience:

Draco Studios' Team
Our Demos

Dodos Riding Dinos - Best game of the show 2019

During this event, exhibitors nominate 1 game per stand to compete for the Quetzaladder award and the Best Game of the Show title. Attendees must play nominated games in order to get a voting ballot. We are very glad to share that one of our games won: Dodos Riding Dinos!

Dodos Riding Dinos is an amusing game which will be launched on Kickstarter by next year in collaboration with Detestable Games, we will keep you posted on the upcoming updates. We have a fun crossover planned for this Dodos Riding Dinos and Dragons of the Red Moon (stay tuned, it's gonna be epic!).

Breath Weapons, Scenic bases and Battle Scars - Wave 1
over 4 years ago – Thu, Nov 14, 2019 at 12:57:22 AM

Hello Dragonbonded,

Today we share some pictures and other news. In this update you will find:

  • Manufacture progress for wave 1
  • Scenic bases, Breath Weapons and Battle scars
  •  Nixis sculpt preview

 Dragon miniatures wave 1 progress

The most exciting news is that the full-body dragon miniatures for backers in the shipping wave 1 are complete! As soon as we receive the art prints and boxes, we will pick-and-pack them and start fulfillment for wave 1. The boxes are delayed in production but they are truly beautiful and we are sure it will be worthwhile.

The team at Draco Forge is now working on the add-ons for backers in the wave 1 which will be complete within November. After that, they will start on orders for backers in shipping wave 2.

Remember that these include Kuxcoatl, Aureus and Sivax only. If your order included a different dragon, it will be dispatched once that dragon is produced.

 Scenic Bases and Breath Weapons

Last week, the master prints for the Scenic Bases and Breath Weapons arrived to our workshop (Draco Forge) and we have already started to work on the production for these. They are truly awesome!

Kuxcoatl's, Aureus' and Sivax's Scenic Bases

The master prints for the breath weapons are opaque but, as mentioned before, reproductions will be cast on transparent resin.

Kuxcoatl's, Aureus' and Sivax's Breath Weapons

Battle Scar parts are also being manufactured already!

Nixis, the Dracolich
over 4 years ago – Fri, Nov 01, 2019 at 03:18:14 AM

Hello Dragonbonded

As you well know, the next dragon to be released will be Nixis. In this update, during this spooky season, we share more about the Dracolich's backstory with you. We will have some previews of the 3D sculpt soon.

Nixis, the Dracolich

Death is a taboo concept for dragons. It is unnatural to their immortal nature and they do not busy themselves with the rumination of such matters; they believe such mental activities are meant for humans, as a punishment for their feebleness, for death is tainted by a veil of absolute doom and despair. The furnace of a dragon’s heart tends to eternity and beyond according to their august impetus and will to endure. Yet in Drakha, a queen of great and terrible beauty roams. She is a ruler who has delved into death and gotten great power from the finitude dragons fear so much and awakened the occult forces of necromancy. Her name is Nixis, the Dracolich, and to serve her is to lose fear. Her undead armies are immense, and nobody is certain about the number of servants she possesses, for it continuously increases. Her generals are some of the mightiest dragons and creatures who abandoned life to seek greater power by the side of their mistress. Nixis’ presence is too terrifying and imposing, and she possesses a great amount of knowledge not only of the occult but of ancient times and the universe. She has a way with words, and as these may inspire great fear, they also may result in an alluring lullaby that invites to darkness.

- When she was alive, Nixis was not what dragons of her brood (still unknown to this day) considered strong. In fact, her delicate constitution and her lack of energy to spend herself in battle or a hunt was heavily frowned upon and led her to be excluded. She was seen as a misfit.

- Nixis was not displeased with her solitude, and came to terms with her obvious inferiority, forcing herself to find alternatives to her weakness. Instead of hunting, she furtively searched for meat to feed on, slowly acquiring a taste for decomposed remains and carcasses she found far away from her brood’s domain: in the barren lands of the inhospitable desert.

- She found comfort in death and oft thought of its nature. Nixis knew that something which was so greatly feared by dragons had to forcefully possess enormous power. Soon, she decided to delve deeper into these matters, which not only intrigued her but awakened a sense of belonging and empowerment she had never experienced before. Among carrion and decay, she had found a drive.

- As she was satiating her hunger on some carrion, a terrible predator spotted her. This was Kahlimax, a brutal dragoness who belonged in Rawraxxa’s fearful brood.

- The sight of Nixis repulsed Khalimax. She could not tolerate beholding weakness and such delicate aspect, let alone the need to feed of decomposing meat. And, as the predator she was, majorly a natural born killer, Khalimax was quick to hurl her massive body towards Nixis with murderous intent.

- At first, Nixis attempted to flee, to defend herself from such an apex specimen; but her actions were futile. Her demise was imminent.

- Torn and with a marred body, suddenly it was as if a tainted veil lifted from her eyes, and all that remained from her fear of death was gone. Henceforth, she knew that to walk death’s path was to lose all fear. She passed away under the claws of victorious Khalimax who abandoned the body to rot under the scorching sun.

- There is no certainty of how much time Nixis spent dead, and she herself cannot tell, for in the sleep of death there is no conscience and hence, secrets of fleeting moments of eternity. It is said that the creatures she had resurrected were still naturally drawn to she who gave them being anew. They finally found their path towards their now dead mistress, and with them the pieces of her essence she had concealed in their core.

- She awoke in the splendor of her decay, like the very queen of the undead in a rebirth from nothingness that had then conferred her power she had never found in life.

- Her rise to power was inevitable. Without discriminating, she commenced forming an undead army, promising great power to those brave enough to give into death. Khalimax herself, the one who gave Nixis death, is now one of her most powerful generals, for it is said that the Dracolich sought her and took her on in a haunting battle, resulting victorious.

- Are you ready to lose fear? There is still much to tell about Nixis.

Baastherox extra part 3D sculpts complete

Hello Dragonbonded

Once again, we come here to let you know more about the progress during the week. Today's update will give you more details about:

  • Wave 1 Miniatures manufacture progress
  • Baastherox sculpt extra parts
  • Packaging design
  • Painting Award for Kuxcoatl
  • Reminders

 Wave 1 Miniatures manufacture progress

Our team at Draco Forge finished the beta master molds to produce the first batch of Sivax. Draco Forge keeps working on the first batch of Aureus which will be done this week, along with the first resin casts of Sivax.

Extra parts for Baastherox, the mightiest

This model is glorious! And we have finished the sculpts for its scenic base, battle scar parts and breath weapon (lightning). All of these are add-ons on your Backerkit survey.

Baastherox will be uploaded on November 4th for the STL Bundle 1 in your DriveThruRPG download.

Baastherox's Render by Daniel Ehrli

If you pledged for any of the physical miniatures' reward tiers, you can still change your selection or include optional buys by accessing into your Backerkit survey. Baastherox is also in our plans for the plastic version.

Next model in line is Nixis!

Packaging design

We made some adjustments to the dragon-scale boxes. This is the first dummy (without print) and we confirm that the size will be bigger. As mentioned in past updates, for better protection, we chose to make these two-piece (telescopic) boxes with a modern diagonal cut on the lid.

More pictures coming soon with the actual print.

Award for Kuxcoatl

Last weekend, our painted Kuxcoatl achieved gold-tier on the National Contest for Static Modelism in Mexico.
